The idea behind PILE UP® arose from a desire to find an alternative to the increasing development of the countryside in the form of estates being constructed on an ever smaller scale. PILE UP® is based on the idea of the stacked single-family dwelling, combining the generous space offered by the single-family house with the advantages of a spacious town apartment: the stacked single-family house:

• The individual PILE UP units are single-storey (not maisonette style) and offer between 80 m2 and 230 m2 of floor space.
• Each PILE UP unit features a spacious private outdoor area
• A part of the living area as well as the outdoor space has a clear room height of 5.60 m. The extra room height ensures optimal lighting deep into the interior of the apartment.
• Open floor plans offer a high and lasting degree of flexibility in terms of extension and utilisation. PILE UP’s core and shell principle allows the users to fit out and furnish the units according to their individual needs.
• The at least 4-storey-high PILE UP buildings are built in attractive residential locations near the town centre, with optimal infrastructure.

The feature of differing room heights is the trademark of the PILE UP® typology and is clearly reflected from the outside in the appearance of the façade.
